Arsenal to sign ‘very big, very expensive’ Players: Boss Emery with an upbeat message about club’s transfer plans ahead of pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich in LA in the early hours of Thursday morning, insisting he is being very demanding of the club.
Unai Emery assured Arsenal fans the club are pushing to sign ‘big, expensive’ players and confirmed he wants to bring in up to four new faces.
Emery has made one signing so far this summer, 18 year-old Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli for £6m from Ituano.
They have also had bids for top targets, Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha and Celtic’s Kieran Tierney rejected, are battling north London rivals Tottenham for both St Etienne defender William Saliba and to sign Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos on loan.
Emery said: ‘We are speaking about the big players because we are starting thinking about our team our squad now.
‘We have very good players and very good young players who can progress to produce a big performance for us and other players can come here to help us.
‘We need really that they will come with a big performance and also our target is to achieve three, four players to really improve our team and squad now.
‘We are being very, very demanding and we are also first speaking about the possibility to sign very big players, very expensive and the first player in our list is our first target and after if we cannot have that the second but thinking every time that they are going to improve our team.
‘We are taking the market with patience and calm. We need to take the best players in some positions, really being demanding of ourselves for these players.
‘Really I can say to our supporters we are going to make a very good team with the players there now and three or four players who can help us in a few days.’
