Maria Elena Salinas Career

She began her career as a reporter. She became anchor and public-affairs host for KMEX-TV, the Univision affiliate in Los Angeles, in 1981. In 1987. She began working as the co-anchor for Noticiero Univision.

She is the founder of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.  She was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2006. In 2014, she won a Peabody Award, Walter Cronkite Award, and Gracies Award for her news and documentary special Entre el Abandono y el Rechazo.
