Commission

Prof Luka David Mosoma holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD cum laude) and a Master of Theology degree (MTh) from Princeton, New Jersey, USA, having completed both undergraduate and Honours degrees (Honours degree in record time) at the University of South Africa. He is an ethicist with formidable academic experience. He taught Systematic theology and Ethics at the University of South Africa. As an academic, he has occupied the following academic and professional positions:

  • Former Head of Department of Systematic Theology and Theological Ethics: UNISA
  • Former Acting Registrar: UNISA
  • Former Vice Principal Planning and Research: UNISA
  • Former Vice Principal Operations: UNISA
  • Former Vice Principal Learner Support and Student Affairs: UNISA
  • Former Deputy Vice Chancellor: UNISA

These positions have exposed Prof Mosoma to a wide range of experience at an extensive level and this has led him to play pivotal roles at various professional, academic and society organisations and formations, requiring him to serve on their governance and leadership structures. To cite just a few examples, previously, he was the Board Chairperson of Tshwane Economic Development Agency (TEDA) where he distinguished himself by stabilising the board and introduced an effective turnaround productive strategy for the entity. He was also the founder member and secretary of the National Interfaith Council of South Africa (NICSA).
